It’s great to be back for the fifth Wanstead Fringe! It’s amazing to see how, from our tiny beginnings, the idea of Fringe has been embraced by Wanstead people. This year we have nearly 40 events taking place, with favourites like the Wanstead Kinema, music, talks, demonstrations, comedy (with the brilliant Paul Sinha), and not forgetting the Wanstead Fringe Jumble Trail.
Running the Fringe takes many people – organisers of individual events, host venues, supporters and volunteers. We want to pay particular thanks to our founding sponsor, Petty Son and Prestwich, which has once again been generous in its support. And we also welcome as a sponsor solicitors Edwards Duthie. Thank you also to Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure for their support.
And thanks again to the Cherry Tree cafe on Woodbine Place where many of our events will be taking place. Our hosts there are the London Borough of Redbridge and the NELFT NHS Foundation Trust. Cherry Tree is part of the learning disability day opportunities building, Woodbine. It is a great venue in the heart of Wanstead, and is now available for hire for community events. Contact 020 8708 7402 to find out more.
A big coo to the Friends of the Wanstead Fringe – a small but growing group of backers who not only come along to events but also show their ongoing support by making an annual donation. You can join them here.
Our goal is to encourage the cultural life of Wanstead, and we hope – with your backing – to achieve that again this year. Above all, we hope you find events you love – and we wish you a great Fringe.
